Catching up with the young hep cats...

Tonight, I purchased my very first music album from the iTunes store...

Allan Holdsworth's 1979 album, "IOU."

Yeah, I know... I own four Macs (two of which are laptops), an iPod Touch, an iPhone and a number of legacy Macs and, incredibly, I've never actually purchased music from the store! I usually opt for a tangible medium like a CD, but decided to download this one because its hard to find, expensive and out of print.

Thanks to the convenience of the iTunes store I downloaded the album and am listening to it within five minutes. Talk about instant gratification!

Year IOU was recorded / released
Hi,

I don't know the specific time frame of the production of the IOU album, but I know it was recorded at "the Barge" an actual barge made into a studio. I assume it was 1981. In 1980 AH, Gary Husband, and Paul Carmichael all gigged with a band called "Turning Point" of which some boots appeared at eztree - dimeadozen this year.
The IOU album was pressed and available at the shows in 1982, I purchased one at a show, June 23. No one at the show had ever seen the record before and Paul Williams referred to it as a "brand new record." best....

I find myself tempted by the devices that allow one to plug a turntable or tape player into a computer and convert the music. It would be cheaper than re-buying the 70s/80s music when it's all handily stored on vinyl.

I have my eye on one of these too, but I also have a good A/D converter in the studio so I might do well with that.

Music on the iTunes store is reasonably priced from what I've seen. Its the out of print *tangible* media that seems to become collectible.

Low on the priorities considering all of the problems in the world today.
